Data Protection and Consent Policy

This petition is administered by members of the UKHPRC Gaza Action Group ("the organisers"). The organisers retain full editorial control over the content, presentation, and submission of this petition, including its title and framing.

Purpose and Scope

This petition is a non-commercial, rights-based advocacy initiative. It aims to uphold the ethical responsibilities of medical professionals, protect civilians and healthcare infrastructure in conflict zones, and urge professional medical bodies to act with moral and humanitarian clarity.

Use of Signatory Information

By signing this petition, you consent to:

  • Your name, professional role, signature and membership status being included in a signatory list submitted to the relevant Royal Colleges.
  • Your email address and other contact information being stored securely and not shared or published without your explicit, separate consent.

Data Processing and Management

Purpose Limitation: All petition data is processed strictly within the consented purposes outlined above. No petition signatory data will be used for communications about future or different advocacy campaigns, as explicit consent for such use has not been obtained from signatories.

Optional WhatsApp Groups: Following petition completion, you may be presented with an optional WhatsApp group invitation as a separate opt-in mechanism. This is independent of your petition data - participation requires you to actively choose to join groups through WhatsApp's own platform and terms of service. No petition data is used to add participants to WhatsApp groups.

Data Storage and Security: Upon petition closure, all responses are downloaded to an encrypted, password-protected offline device and stored securely in a locked box.

Third-Party Processing: We use SurveySparrow as a third-party data processor to host our petitions. For detailed information on their data protection policies, please refer to their privacy policy at https://surveysparrow.com/legal/gdpr/.

Data access is limited to designated UKHPRC collective members on a need-to-know basis for petition administration purposes only.

Data Retention and Withdrawal

Personal data (name, professional role, and contact details) will be stored securely for a period of up to six months from the petition's closing date, for the sole purpose of managing the petition and any direct follow-up related to its aims, and to address any queries regarding its legitimacy.

After this period, all personal data will be permanently deleted as no explicit consent has been obtained for future advocacy communications. Anonymised aggregate data (such as geographical distribution statistics, e.g., percentage of signatories from specific regions) may be retained long-term for statistical purposes, with all personal identifiers removed.

You may withdraw your consent or request removal of your data at any time by emailing UKmedicsforGaza@gmail.com. Upon receiving such a request, we will remove your name from future versions or distributions of the petition where reasonably possible.

Lawful Basis

The lawful basis for processing your data is your explicit consent, in accordance with UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a).

If you have questions or concerns regarding your data, please contact UKmedicsforGaza@gmail.com.
